Seasonal  Pattern In Lake Biwa

September

As September rolls in, water temperatures gradually begin to drop, signaling the transition to autumn. In the first half of the month, the lingering summer warmth means that well-oxygenated areas will be key fishing spots. By the latter half of September, more fish will start to exhibit autumnal behaviors.

In South Lake, bass will form schools and actively chase prey around weed edges and hard bottom areas. Finesse fishing like the neko rig, drop shot, and weightless rig prove effective during this time. During the low-light conditions like early morning and late evening, topwater plugs can also yield good results.

In North Lake, bass tend to gather around rocky areas and weed beds. Baitfish will accumulate in deep structures such as submerged trees and reefs, attracting bass that are on the move in search of food. Under low-light conditions, surface lures like I-shaped baits and small jointed baits can be productive. This period is also known for producing large bass in deep waters, making it a good time to target trophy fish.
Embrace the changing season and adjust your techniques to maximize your fishing success this September.
