Seasonal  Pattern In Lake Biwa

July

As July arrives, bass that have recovered from spawning begin to increase in numbers, signaling the start of the full swing of summer patterns. Water temperatures rise, and offshore weeds become more pronounced. Many bass migrate to deeper offshore areas in search of food, making this a prime time for fishing. The activity of smaller bass also increases, making them more likely to bite.

In the southern part of the Lake Biwa, offshore weeds flourish and create weed outside edges. Bass tend to school and swim around these well-oxygenated weed edges and hard-bottom areas. Techniques such as no-sinker rigs and drop shots become particularly effective. Locating these schools can provide a rewarding fishing experience. Drizzly days offer great opportunities for topwater fishing.

In the northern part of the Lake Biwa, bass gather around hard bottoms near islands and in tall weeds, where water circulation is good. During low-light conditions, such as when it's slightly raining, you can expect good surface fishing with I-shaped lures and small jointed baits. Depending on the timing, you can also expect to catch larger fish. It's exciting and enjoyable to see big bass chasing after your lure. With smaller bass actively seeking food, anglers might enjoy higher catch rates. Effective techniques include jerk baits, small jointed baits, and shad. On hot days, it's also possible to swim in the clear waters of Lake Biwa.
