Seasonal  Pattern In Lake Biwa

October

As October approaches, the water temperature gradually drops, and autumn deepens. This period, with its optimal water temperature for bass, sees fish scattering from shallow to bottom areas. Fish, both small and large, are found in the same locations or are more actively roaming for food than one might imagine, preparing for winter by feeding vigorously. Areas with abundant baitfish become key spots. It's also a great time for catching numerous fish, as even the small fish born this year actively chase food, and targeting larger fish in deeper waters becomes an enjoyable challenge.

In the South Lake, baitfish gather around the weed outside edges, tall weeds, and hard bottoms, with bass following them. While finesse fishing generally prevails, deep cranks and spinnerbaits can be effective in murky conditions after a typhoon.

In the North Lake, large fish gather around deep brush piles and extensive artificial reefs. For those targeting big fish in autumn, deep areas are recommended. Dredged areas where baitfish accumulate also attract bass looking to feed. Shallow areas host both small and large fish. In such locations, drop shots and neko rigs are effective. In deep areas, mid-strolling, no-weight rigs, and free rigs become effective.
